CHAPITRE VI - Forms of the marriage.

Such is the marriage according to the mode of Gandharvas.

When a girl cannot follow or does not want to declare her intention to get married to him, the lover will obtain him ( it ? ) from one of the following manners.

By means of an intermediary he ( it ? ) will attract ( entice ? ) the girl to him under some excuse, and when she will have come, he ( it ? ) will make bring of the house of a brahmane the usual fire and will proceed to the marriage as he ( it ? ) is said higher.

When the girl whom he wishes has to marry the other one soon, he will lose his rival in mind of the mother, and, of complicity with this one, he ( it ? ) will make the girl come in a house of the neighborhood where he ( it ? ) will have made bring the usual fire, and will proceed to his ( its ? ) marriage as he ( it ? ) is said higher.

Either he ( it ? ) will operate in the same way with the complicity of the brother of the girl, whom he ( it ? ) will have put in his ( its ? ) interests by all the average possible.

( These cases can be connected with the mode of Gandharvas; the assent of the girl is supposed to exist tacitly).

2 ° With the complicity of the foster sister of the girl, he ( it ? ) makes put to sleep or make drunk this one, and the affable in some sure place, and there he ( it ? ) enjoys it. In his ( its ? ) alarm clock, he ( it ? ) carries out the religious ceremony (it is there the mode says Vampires, Manou).

« The removal ( kidnapping ? ) consists in taking by violence a woman of a place in the other one where she ( it ? ) is for the power of the kidnapper because of marriage.

« The removal ( kidnapping ? ) cancels the marriage between the kidnapper, that is the one for which we kidnap the woman, and the removed woman. »]
