APPENDIX TO the CHAPITRE II
N 1. - The artificial Union is reprimanded by the poets.
Bhartrihari (stanza 29 _l'Amour the Amur _) says: in this world, the love has the effect of uniting two hearts in the same thought.
When the feelings of the lovers are not confused ( merged ? ), it is as the union of two corpses.
The marriage without the love is a body without soul, says Tirouvallouvao (divine Pariah).
N 2. - The Father Gury, _Théologie morality _ (908). The custom ( usage ? ) of the marriage is seriously illicit if it takes place in a spirit of adultery, so that by approaching his wife, we imagine that it is another woman.
This opinion is obviously that of all the theologians.
G Sand, in _Mademoiselle of Quintinie, _décrit an union of this kind ( genre ? ).
